De mirabili victoria puellae by Jean Gerson
Appearance
De Mirabili Victoria Cuiusdam Puellae De Postfœtantes Receptae In Ducem Belll Exercitus Regis Francorum Contra Anglicos
In English we have a couple possibilities:
"On the Astonishing Victory of a Certain Maiden, Received as Leader of War of the Army of the King of France against the English.”
or, if we look carefully at the word postfœtantes,
“On the Astonishing Victory of a Certain Maidien, Taken up by those who had been in Retreat as Commander of the War of the King of the French against the English.”
After Joan of Arc delivered Orleans to the French, the most important cleric in France, Bishop Jean Gerson wrote a celebratory apology (defense) of Joan of Arc, called, De mirabili victoria puellae.
